outSSIDer is based on inSSIDer from metageek (thanks!). You can write bug reports, request features or comment outSSIDer in this guestbook:

At a times it cannot find wireless networks in range (also says no WiFi adapter installed), furthermore it doesn\'t perform scans, i gotta click all the time pause\\resume to update the wifi status.
PS: i\'m using an USB WIFI Adapter.

Thanks for your suggestions! The suggestion about restarting scanning if the connection is dropped or becomes weak is actually something we had in mind already! Because, as you describe, you\'re not always at a convenient place when the connection is found. I\'m not sure when it will be implemented, but check back now and then :-) Greetings - outSSIDer developers.

A new (second) program mode, which can be selected at startup, that logs the time when a connection is made (and, if possible, captures a location from an attached GPS and appends it to the log) then puts an Exit button on the screen and keeps running. If the Exit button is NOT clicked before the AP disappears the program assumes that that connection was inconvenient so the user walked past it and goes back to Walk mode looking for another connection. If/when the Exit button IS clicked then the program works as now, quitting and leaving the connection up. The use of this is that not all locations where outssider finds a connection are convenient at the time (too much traffic, too exposed in bad weather, etc) but may be optimal at a later time. But in a strange town, remembering where the program got a connection is not easy, so going back later when conditions are better can mean walking the whole route again. This would make it possible to go straight there, either by comparing times in the outssider log and the GPS tracklog or directly if outssider can capture and log the postion from an attached GPS as well as the time of day.

\"I don\'t know how hard that would be to program.\"

Maybe offer to start in a special \"maybe later OK mode\" (additional to current \"Normal use mode\") that would put an exit button on the screen and wait to see what happens instead of just exiting. Then if the signal dropped without the exit button being pressed it automatically goes back to Walk mode but if that connection is OK to use and you hit the Exit button (which shouldn\'t be hard as you\'d be opening the lid to surf anyway) then the program just quits and leaves the connection up for use as it does now. Perhaps????

Hello - there\'s one extra function that would often be useful (I found on the Christmas holidays) but it may be too hard to program ????
Quite often when stopping and waiting and there is a Success! sound, it turns out to be somewhere really inconvenient at that time because of too much traffic and so on but it would be OK at other times, but because it\'s a strange town it\'s often hard to remember just where it was without walking the whole route all over again. Maybe outssider could be made to go automatically (automatically because opening the case and fumbling with the keys in the cold is not fun) back to Walk mode if the signal drops (because you\'ve just walked on to find a more convenient spot at that moment) but write the time of the Success! ding to a logfile so that you could then also have a GPS in track mode and later match up the time in the log and on the GPS track and go straight back there. My cellular GPS will also connect to the computer with USB or Bluetooth so it would be even better if outsidder could also get the location from a GPS and write that into the log, but even just the time would be useful I think but I don\'t know how hard that would be to program.

It is pivotal to inform your physician about any allergies you may have and also your medical history, before getting your Lipitor prescription. The drug Lipitor also has a bioequivalent generic which is identical to the brand in strength as well as safety and is sold at a slightly lower cost.

No, outSSIDer will not grant you Internet anywhere where. It\'s perhaps badly formulated. It will only connect if there is *truly open* WiFi that doesn\'t need any registration.
